It was with great pleasure that I received your letter of January 2,
regarding positions at the Institute. To give you an idea of the extent
to which we have invested our energies in EEG analysis, I am enclosing
a copy of a report which was presented at a national meeting three months
ago. Since that time, we have added programs for power spectmn, plotting
analyses to give us a graphic representation, and solved a number of the
technical problems of EEG recording described in your letter.

Some general facts about the Institute are as follows. The Missouri
Institute of Psychiatry is the research and training center of the Division
of Mental Diseases of Missouri. It was established in October, 1962, with
laboratory and clinical facilities for research. At the present time, of
150 beds, we are utilizing 70 for research purposes. Laboratories are
established in pharmacology, psychology, and electmencephalog'aphy, as
well as a computer center for both statistical and EG analyses. There is
a specialized psychiatric research library as a component wt of the In-

stitute.

precipitant of anxiety and the development of anti-anxiety agents; relation
of EEG patterns and organic factors in the treatment of therapy resistant
psychotics; computer analysis of the electmmoephalog‘am; the effects of

Acoonmdations are available for rental or for sale within ten
minutes of the Institute. It is our custom to provide temporary acoonmodations at the institution for scientists appointed from overseas.

Appointments are made at salary levels connenswate with experience
with a minimum sheen being $12,000 per annum. In addition to research
experience, satisfactory cospletion of the DPM is weighed heavily in the
determination of salary. Satisfactory counpletion of the ECIMG examination
with either a temporary or pemanent certificate is prerequisite to appointment.
