Your recent 'Dear Doctor' letter describing the efficacy of Asendin in patients with delusional depression was brought to my attention by one of my residents. I am not acquainted with the specific articles on which this claim is based. I would be grateful for citations (and reprints if from foreign literature) of any prospective, well controlled, comparative studies of Asendin against the combination of an antipsychotic and an antidepressant drug in hospitalized delusional depressive patients. Are there any reports of the use of Asendin in comparison to electroconvulsive therapy in hospitalized delusional depressed patients? Thank you for your cooperation and help.
