I did not know these findings and so read them with much interest. There may be merit in your suggestion, but only systematic study (as you propose) will tease out the support for these views. My own laboratory is devoting its time to study the mechanisms of action of ECT, mainly the neuroendocrine effects of seizures, and it is not possible for us to deflect our energies to this interesting clinical question at this time.
