Studies of the effects of dependence producing psychoactive drugs, especially drugs used for recreational purposes, are timely. Our early studies which depended on quantitative com puterbased assessment of the electrical activity of single leads were productive, but were limited by their expense and technical difficulty. Recent achievements of multi-lead quantitative EEG assessment, such as those undertaken in your laboratory, corn pel the re-assessment you propose. i For your records, I enclose a cepy of my c.v. which details the studies of cannabis and opioids which i did with Jan Volavka, Peter Irwin, Rhea Dornbush, Costas Stefanis, and others while at the New York Medical College, 1966—1973.
