Alfred Freedman has been a remarkable leader in American and world psychiatry- thoughtful, liberal, productive. It was his vision that launched the Comprehensive Textbook of Psychiatry and its many offshoots. He launched this journal, and although it has not made a big impact, its issues are among the most thoughtful in our profession. The closest relative in my ken is the Behavioral 6c Brain Sciences (Cambridge University Press) edited by Steven Harnad of Princeton. Alfred is retiring, but remains active and enthusiastic. He probably needs a project to keep his interests high during his retirment, and the journal may be a useful vehicle. I know that some exploration has been done by Raven Press, and perhaps the issue is moot. Nevertheless, lam bringing it to your attention again.
