was pleased to send the enclosed to the Search Committee of the
University of Vermont. I have been there twice, about six and two years ago. It is a
good campus, and seemed to have well qualified students. I was not impressed with
the research interest, since my hosts impressed me that they were busy earning
their salaries through their practice plan. But if anyone can shake the
establishment and raise the academic sights, I am sure that you can.
I

When I was a boy, I camped often on Lake George, and canoed Champlain.
Indeed, was camping on Lake George on June 6, 19M (ID-Day) and can still recall
I

the thrill of our fishing the next few days, with the optimism that the war would

now soon come to an end. In the early 1970s, we usually rented a camp for a month
on Raquette Lake. You will surely like the fishing in the Adirondack streams and

lakes.

’

I

do hope that you get the position if that is what you want.

Is there anything else lcan do for NNérBN? lam not too surprised that the
reviewers didn't accept the pharmaco-EEG article. The question, whether there is
anything more than noise in the waking EEG, remains an interesting one,
particularly since the technical issues of recording and analysis have been solved so
handsomely. Now that the ECT issues are fairly cut and dried, I have decided to
take time off the second half of the year and write a book on Brain and Behavior:
Pharmaco-EEG Revisited. I will emphasize theory, much as I did with Convulsive
Therapy. If Iam successful, we should be able to get reviewers of NNchN to look
at the article with a fresh eye a year hence.

My best regards.

Sincerely yours,
Max Fink, MD.
