Early in his program, i was his supervisor during his PGY-Z year on the impatient service at University Hospital. David showed a keen interest in his patients, and stood out as one who was willing to read original articles when these were considered during our rounds. An interest in the treatment of delusional depression led to his study of the literature and the writing of an excellent review article, which was published in the first year of publication of CONVULSIVE THERAPY. 1 in his senior year, he was chief resident and carried out his assignments well. He became interested in an academic career and applied for a position with Barry Fogel in your Department. David and Barry have developed a series of innovative research protocols, which they have discussed with me. David is a warm, enthusiastic, dependable, andinter’ested young physician.
