[have known of Tom‘s work for many years, and have worked with him at Stony Brook from 1983 to his leaving earlier this year. 1 At Stony Brook, he has been responsible for the residency training program, the ambulatory care services, and the acting clinical director for the in-patient service at University Hospital. He has been an active administrative officer, as chairman or member of numerous departmental and medical school committees. he has also While he has carried these burdens -- and he has carried them well maintained his research projects and continued to present and publish the results of his studies. - Tom is an excellent researcher with special skills in epidemiology and in psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. And, he is a fine administrator, with skills in organization and in interpersonal relations. He is an excellent supervisor and a superb consultant. He is well liked by the residents and the staff. Indeed, since he has announced that he is statistics. He is a fine clinician, with skills leaving, there has been general consternation among the faculty, the nursing staff, and the residents.
