When I left Hillside Hospital in 1962, Donald Klein assumed responsibility for the Department of Research and appointed Fred in 1966 as associate, and in 1968, as Director of EEG at the hospital. 1 Fred was trained by Fred and Erna Gibbs in Chicago. and developed skills and interest in EEG topography in relation to behavior. in numerous studies, he sought to relate EEG patterns to emotional disorders, and his work on the BMitten, ill and fl, and dysrhythmia patterns to suicide ideation, tardive dyskinesia, and schizophrenia are among the most secure in our field. He has an established track record with NIH grant committees, and an extensive publication history. it 1977, he was appointed Associate Professor in this Department at Stony Brook, and in 1983, he became Professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School. am pleased to heartily support his application for appointment as Professor at LSU; he is a capable and innovative researcher, and an established teacher.
