D. to Assistant Professor E E i i i E i E E i i i I am puzzled by this request for advice as to promotion to a rank of Assistant Professor of a scientist in the Institute. It has been my understanding that the recommendation to this rank did not require Departmental consensus, particularly for appointments in the Institute with the 'research' modification of title. Or, is the proposal lierally correct, that Dr. Edwards is being proposed for promotion to an ‘unmodified' appointment in the Department? It a Departmental consensus is required, it would be helpful to distribute of copies her gig, preferably with letters "from referees who know and can evaluate her work in relation to that of others with her academic credentials.
