We do not use the Searcher; the Manager is the main operating system for data entry and retrieval; and the Editor h the special program for extracting citations in styles for different journals. The Manager is the main program, and I enclose a description of it; as well as an article about the Editor. My files are divided into blocks of 1000 citations each. I searched the most recent files for WEINER and part of the output is enclosed so that you can see the style of the records. The main advantage of SCIMATE is that one need not identify descriptor terms; all terms in any record may be the basis for a search since the strategy is a string search throughout all the records; no thesaurus is created.
