I have sent a draftyou the to American Journal of Psychiatry for their consideration. It is difficult to know what to make about your announcement about the electrotherapy group headed by Gary Aden. They are well meaning and well funded, and they could encourage a better image for ECT, but their commitment to legal defense and maintaining present practices made me uncomfortable. There is still a need for a reasoned voice in defense of ECT when confused a community reacts with anger; hopefully, the American Psychiatric Association will establish a committee for such a purpose. I am unable to come to Vienna for the World Congress meetings, as I have family matters which need my attention. Let me know what happens in the ECT and EEG sessions. My best regards.
