Box 1127 Ann Arbor, Mlchigan 48106 Dear Dr. Daignault, There are very few good films of the ECT process, and I know of none that are very useful for families of patients. One videotape is available from the manufacturers of MECTA (Mrs. R. Nicol, MECTA Corporation, 122 SE 8th Avenue, 503-231 2808). It was made by Dr. Barry Maletzky of Portland OR 97214 Portland, Oregon, and gives undue emphasis to MMECT, but it is otherwise - acceptable. Another was made a few years ago by Dr. Richard Abrams (Department of Psychiatry, Chicago Medical School, V.A. HOSpital, North Chicago, Illinois 6006# 312-578 3330). It is a good presentation for students, but I am not sure it is good for relatives of patients. —— There is a need for a technically well presented videotape which may be useful for students, patients, and their families.
