Changing substantive to substantial in paragraphs 2 and 3 of my comment on Weiner's article does not change the sense of my discussion and the comment may stand. 2. Squire and his associates have presented numerous reports on the effects of bilateral and unilateral ECT on memory functions. I do not believe a reference is needed, since Weiner has already given the important ones. But if you believe it helpful, add: Squire, L.R. and Slater, P.C. The suggestions for changes in consent procedures which Weiner makes were made by the APA Task Force. He is repeating what is already in the record, perhaps with less attribution than is deserved.
