We would be pleased to consider his application for an appointment for one year. Since Dr. Guidi has not yet established a publication record, it would be important that he be interviewed before a decision could be made. A few years ago, Dr. Walter Sannita of the Ospedale San Martino in Genoa was resident as a research fellow in this laboratory. if Dr. Guidi could visit Dr. Sannita, it would be helpful. i enclose a copy of a letter which i have addressed to Dr. Sannita, in the hope that he would be willing to discuss our programs, our location, the costs of living in the U.S., and the importance of defining a project before Dr. Guidi comes to the U.S. For many years, my laboratory was dedicated to pharmaco-EEG studies in normal male volunteers. These studies have, in the last year, been replaced by studies of the. effects of drugs and convulsive therapy in patients, with the aim of relating changes in EEG parameters to clinical outcome. The principal clinical study is that of the mode of action of convulsive therapy.
