I have known of his work in psychopyarmecology for more than two decades, and have come to work with him in the Department at SUNY at Stony Brook during the past two years, both in the invitation and planning phase and in his present position as clinical director this year. Dr. Hankoff is a skilled researcher in psychophermacology and in clinical sciences. He has written a fine treatise on suicide, which has lately received excellent reviews. In the past year, he has developed the clinical programs at University Hospital and in this regard, he has impressed me with his patience, clarity of' purpose, administrative and clinical skills, and reliability. He is a skilled teacher of medical students and residents; and he has organized a fine clinical staff which should do a credible job in the development of the Psychiatry Service at University Hospital. I am pleased to racemmend him for appointment to the Psychiatry Service of University Hospital.
