After reading the report, which shows that the administration of a peptide derived from vasopressin will reduce the self administration schedule of rats bar pressing for opiates, I bacame very interested. It seems that this peptide has the same effect on self—administration of opioids as the administration of an opioid; yet the compound has no analgesic, respiratory, or sedating effects. It would be of My regards. interest to determine if the compound relieves drug seeking behavior in opiate dependent humans. I presented the problem to Al Freedman and he seemed interested, suggesting that I send you the reprint and arrange that we meet soon.
