David Fairchild, Ph.D. Dear Dr. Hays, his co-workers I cannot eecall meeting Don Genden and Dr. Dr. Mickey—— Fairchild, but I the latter have met serving as an ad hoc reviewer of one of my NIMH grant applications. I do know their work well, and have followed will interest. They first published about 1969, declaring that the effects of drugs on the EEG of cats could be it distinguished using multivariate statistics, particularly that they could identify different drugs by this method. Tley proceeded to extend their work with a predictive study and were successful. Since then, they have published occasionally, and I am not acquainted with any systematic body of data or systematic applications. Their work was unusually well detailed; their statistics was exemplary; and they held a promise for greater applications, particularly in studies in man. The reports reflected peofessional knowledge of EEG recording and statistics. It is difficult for me to parcel out the contributions of therefore to assert what Dr. Fairchild'd unique, personal contributions may have been. If a number of his reprints were made available or brought to my attention, I could possibly evaluate each of the them in the participants, and light of the developments during the past decade.
