The report to the ECDEU will be sufficient for the FDA. I
realize Kastin’s concerns and I have no need or desire to increase
his anxiety. I have sufficient data now.

associates. The best laboratory to assist us in the
analysis of the behavioral data of the 63-91; study is probably
the Biometric Laboratory of George Washington University. This
center was established with government funds and is supported by
a large contract to develop methods for rating behavior and to assist
investigators. The directors are friends, Ronald Bonato, Ph.D. and
William Gw, Ph.D. Before recommending them, I screened two other
units: the VA laboratory at Ferry Point under Dr. James Klett and
the laboratory of John Overall in Texas. I believe the best unit
for our purposes is that of George Washington University. I met with
Bonato and Guy at a meeting in Wshington yesterday and they agreed
to review the data and to offer their advice and support. I also
met with James Klett, who will be able to meet with us, but is
unable to help with the data. Should you wish to send Dr. Stuhlemeyer
to the U.S. , I would be glad to arrange to visit Washington with him.

As for the costs, there is some problem. Officially,
the Biometric Laboratory is not organized to process data fer
industry, but for investigators. They will analyze the data if

it is listed as coming
if you obtain releases

from an investigator (such as nyself); or
from each of the participants. They cannot
charge a fee. Should they assist you (us) in a meaningful way,
id possible for me to reimburse them for their time. I would suggest
that you allow an initial budget of $1,500, with the guidelinethat

it

pay a consulting fee at the rate of $lSO/day. Should their
contribution warrant, I can clear the payments through you in advance.
(Should their contribution be considerably greater, I can suggest
the amount be increased.)
