Gentlemen:

I on writing on behelf of Dr. Rhee Dornbush. who is applying
for a fellowehip. I have known Dr. Dornbuob since 1967, when
who joined me in our ongoing studies of the effects of seizures
on brein function, memory, and behavior. I have known her on
both supervisor and coworker in our studies of cannabis.
Dr. Dornbush came to no unusually well qualified in studies
of memory function. In our studies of convuleive therapy. she
set up numerous auditory end visual tests, eeeoseed the date,
end provided the enelysee which hire been published.
During our association we beceme interested in the effects
of cannabis on brain function. From 1969 to date, the has been
the principal investigator in the cennebie studies at the New
York hedioel College in which we have eeeeesed the EEG, memory.
end beheviorsl effects of both acute and chronic administration
of cannabis. Because of her expertise, Professor Freedman end I
celled upon her to assist on in the studiee of "Chronic Heehish
Users in Greece"-o contract established in 1970 by NINE. In
this study the was called upon to guide the organization of the
study, relate to the scientists in Athens, provide for the col“
lection of date, enelyre the information. sod prepare the erten~
eive reports. This study program has just been summarized end
submitted to NINE. and in this summary the major effort was hero.
She is s highly intelligent and unusually well qualified
research investigator. She writee well and is well liked by
her coworkers and seeietento. She is able to extract coopera—
tion from the most diffioult of patients and exhibits eque—
nimity and e pleeesnt mood even under the moat execperetins
circumstances. Indeed, her diplomacy bee frequently been put
to use. both by Professor Freedman end myself, when we have
found it necessary to relate to governmental agencies.

a coworker, Dr. Dornbush he: made major contributions

to our study programs. As e principal investigator, she has
exhibited the drive, judgment, and enthusiasm necessary to ac~
canplish the mission: which she has eet. She is experienced
not only in experimental peychelogy, research design, and etatietice, but also in the problems of human research.

I have no reservations in recommending her for the fellow*
ship for which she is applying, and I know of no member of my
staff who in better qualified than she.
Sincerely yours,
