In that letter, I was proposing to discuss the use of quantitative electrophysiology to assay the bioavailability of CNS—active drugs. I think the methods are now sufficiently developed, both in the quantification of EEG and the statistical processing of EEG and behavioral data, to allow more extensive correlations of data collected to assess such questions as the rate at which a drug affects the brain, and comparisons of different dosages and probably different fbrmulations for rate and degree of ef~ feet. I enclosing a preprint of a report which summarizes our experience to December, 1972; and a reprint published in 1971 on statistical methods used to analyze rate effects with intrawenous pehtothal. am Should the Division of Neuropharmacology wish to assess these methods, I would be pleased for an opportunity to dis— cuss the experiences and the potentialities in detail.
