The proposal calls for an evaluation of the efficacy of eyelasocine and methadone in the treatment of opiate dependence. Among the criteria are those for an adequate dose or methadone (tolerance to high doses), and e blackening dose of cyclesocine. defined by its blockade of an administered dose of an opiate, usually diaoetylnorphine (heroin). The criteria for blockade are subjective reports, chooses in behavior. respiratory rate, papillary size, and EEG. While no single criterion is essential, none alone are satisfactory, for expectation and set are important aepects of an addict's response to an injection. _ In the negotiations in June, we indicated that some equipment for the study program would be avialable, including an EEG, but not the tape recorder necessary to provide the interface between the EEG and the computer analytic facility at the university. Nor are we able to provide the equipment for pupillonetry. Should objective measures for the effects or eyelasoeine be pupilloneter and a tape recorder should be provided.
