There is a need for the NIMH and/or the V.A. to undertake a more extensive evaluation of l-alpha—acetylmethadol. I believe the V.A. can do it, and am taking the opportunity to enclose a copy of our report, comparing methadone and l-alpha—acetylmethadol. The report has been accepted by the JANA, and should appear within the next 6 weeks. have continued our studies since the report was completed, and the present group of patients continue to fulfill the expectations established by the patients in the study.
