White House) and Dr. Jean Paul Smith (National Institute of Mental health)
Center for Studies of Drug Abuse) to tell them that I had reviewed some
of your compounds of interest; that these had been tested by the
University of Michigan and the data were in the appropriate archives;
showing these compounds to be similar to others already under investigation;
and that prior to further study, they required, as with M—SOSO, additional
formulations of supplies and animal toxicology studies to satisfy the FDA.

The usefulness of tetramisole as an antihelminthic is
dramatic, and the possibilities in oncology most exciting. It is the
alleged antidepressant activity, however, that interests me. We are
assaying one compound, ORE 8063, from Ortho Research, in our EEG
screen, but our methods may be more appropriate to examine the
possible central activity of tetramisole. I will call Dr. Bill
Pollack as you suggested.

With regard to haloperidol in addiction, I have reviewed the
available to me, and the suggestion by Lal is interesting,
though poorly substantiated.. I have intererted an experienced member
