�Dr. Max Fink is Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the
Division of Biological Paychiatry of the New York Medical College
in New York City. Since 1966, on has extensively studied the neuro—
physiologic and clinical effecte of narcotic substitutea and antagonieta in opiate dependence. and the effects of chronic cannabis use,
both in the United States and overseas.
He is a graduate of the Rev York University College of Mad~
icine (1945); is certified in neurology (1952) and paychiatry (1954)

the American Boards of Psychiatry and Neurology; and in paycheanalyaia (1953) by the William Alanaon White Institute (New York).
In a research career begun in 1954. he has been Director of Raaearch
at Hillside Hospital (New York) (195A-l962), and Director of the
Missouri Institute of Psychiatry, and Raeearch Professor at Washington University (St. Louis) (1962-1966).

encephalographic) and clinical effects of psychoactive drugs and
coneeileie therapy. Applying computer methods to these analyaea.
he has provided theoretic models of the relation of EEG changes and
behavior in man, and of the node of action of convulsive therapy.
