Some years ago. in studying the electroshbck process, the specificity of anticnolinorgic drugs in reversing the ECT effect led me to poatulcte an elevation of acetylcholine as important to this effect. We attempted some measures of CSF acetylcnoline, but our results were unreliable. Recently, I approached the problem again, and sent some fluids to Walter Essmau at Queen's College, fiew York, but he was cola to measure other constituents, not acctylcholine. Are the techniques yen describe ouitablc for CSF? is there a way of stabilizing CSF~acetylcnolinc so that samples could be shipped?
