We have been able to assess the clinical efficacy and the effects on memory of unilateral electrode placements, and these studies led us to multiple treatments. We have been surprised that the clinical results of multiple treatments is not much greater than one seizure—- suggesting that the biochemical changes after one seizure are near maximal, and that some development, in time, is necessary for the full development of the changes which are the basis for clinical results.
