After one year, he was inducted into the armed services and during his tour of duty, undertook independent research studies into ECT. He designed and completed two studies of unilateral and multiple ECT in the treatment of acutely disturbed depressed and schizophrenic servicemen. His experience provided the basis for more extensive studies at the College into the mode of action of ECT, studies hhich he has carried ott during the remainder of his residency and subsequently, as an instructor in our Department.
