Our studies of £-alpha—acetylmethadol fail to support the interest of Dr. Jaffe. The drug is more complex to use then methadone and provides no long-term solution. We have already transferred a number of patients from methadone to cyclazocine, as Dr. Kissin suggests. Unfortunately, again, the two compounds are incompatible and the switch-over is difficult. Pregress, although slow, is continuing, stimulates additional interest, as I believe to the solution of a serious problem.
