The units changed from a detoxification, revolving door facility to an extended treatment facility many years ago. when 128 was reclassified as general We psychiatry, and we remained on 15A where: (1) Staff ratios were low, inpatients with the same staff. and we had (2) Space on 15A had been assigned to the medical supervision of our patients. to treat outpatients 2 laboratories for (3) Once we were committed to an intensive, careful study of opiate dependence we filled fewer beds to provide adequate medical care and increased our CPU load. we now have lOG patients in continuous aftercare. During hospitalization we detoxify, treat medical illnesses (of which there are many) and induct on methadone, cyclazocine or naloxone.
