Your letter to Dr. John Nurnberger requesting a research or clinical/research position in psychiatry has been referred to me, for the possibility of such a position in our laboratories. Dr. Nurnberger was apparently impressed by the biological nature of your publications and thought that your interests might be served by our programs. The Division of Biological Psychiatry is the principal research facility of a large community mental health center in New York City. Our laboratories are dedicated to research in clinical neurophysiology (quantitative electroencephalography), drugs, drug abuse, and induced convulsions. Our populations are acute psychotics stethe Metropolitan Hospital; depressives at Gracie Square Hospital; chronic psychotics at Kirby State Hospital and drug abuse subjects at Metropolitan Hospital. We are supported by funds of NINE, New York State, flew York City and private individuals. We are responsible for psyciatric residency training in biological psychiatry, psychopharmacology and research methodology. Some recent reports are enclosed. If such a clinical/ research program interests you, I would be pleased to have the opportunity to discuss your appointment with scientists of your naming at Galesburg and Ohio Statc-~ as I know many of the staff at both institutions.
