I was very impressed with your facilities and with the catalog of interesting studies which ydu and your associates are undertaking. I am particularly interested in your studies of acetylcholine and cholinesterases. For the past 18 months, I have studied the behavioral, EEG and memory changes induced by unilateral and bilateral ECT, and recently have expanded the study to include multiple monitored ECT, in which the subject receives 3-8 seizures 1g one sitting. In reviewing our data, and in View of the interest in CNS neurohumors in depression, I became interested in measuring the neurohumors in the spinal fluid of these subjects. Alex Karczmar expressed enthusiasm for this study, and have planned to send him samples, taken before and after the induced seizures. As you know, the techniques are notoriously difficult, and any collaboration and assistance, would be most welcome.
