You will be pleased to know that Dr. Zaks has been successful in extending the duration of antagonism to heroin by naloxone. In a subject receiving 3 Gus/day, 26 mg heroin, 25 hours after the previous dose was experienced as a "blank", the subject exhibited neither behavioral, physiological or EEG signs of heroin administration. I wish Dr. Zaks was planning to retest the subject at 50 and perhaps at 75 mg (at 24 hours). This experience is very encouraging and I have asked Arthur to send you a detailed summary and a plan for continued study as soon as he completed the present series of experiments.
