In relating your observations to our own, I am aware of two problems. Your data relates to the seizure and immediate post—seizure activity; ours to 24 hours later. Whatever changes are induced by repeated convulsions are more prominent in our sample than yours. Assuming the accuracy of the observations, we can conclude either an aspect of the immediate seizure state suppresses hemispheric differences; or these are of such a clinical nature as to require hours to emerge. I have been puzzled at the disinterest in MMECT, and one possibility, from our experience, is that a chemical aspect of the post seizure state is the therapeutic agent, and this takes time to emerge, regardless of the number of seizures at one time. The question was raised of the advantages for such a group being formed, and when I suggested that fund raising for travel, meeting rooms, guests, etc. are feasible by a group and not an individual, there was a unanimous authorization to form a "group". The World Congress of Psychiatry in Mexico City was suggested as the meeting site. I wrote to the secretary and have been told that an official membership, as a section, is impossible; but an associated meeting is possible.
