The output is based on the l966 laboratory data scale. In working with that form for the past year, we have learned both that there are important omissions, and that the form lists many tests rarely or never performed. Based on this experience, we have modified the form and enclose our sample copies of our present effort. I would ghke to suggest that duplicate outoputs and laboratOry forms be sent to the ECDEU investigators and that this become a subject for discussion at a meeting of the investigators. In the event that any investigator or you would wish to have a demonstration of the application of the form to a definite set of data, we will be pleased to supply the test forms and carry out the analyses. I am also enclosing a reprint of the controlled laboratory As I my associates and I completed in Hissouri. study which indicated, I have been concerned with the seeming peremptory dismissal of iproniazid for the alleged effects on liver function. The data is not too clear in this regard and much of it is without sufficient control. If a central laboratory review were established for a variety of new drugs, for standard drugs and for different pOpulations under no drug conditions. then the experience might be broad enough to provide a firmer basis for such decisions in the future. he would like to suggest that such a record facility be established.
