I have known John since he was a child, for we grew up in
the some community. His father was a general practitioner and
a close friend to my father; and John was a welcome guest in
our

home .

Following his training as a physician, he joined on at the
Department of Experimental Psychiatry, hillside Hospital. as a
Research Fellow. During the period 1959~l96l he was actively
involved in a comparative clinical. EEG and psychologic study
of chlororomazine, imipramine and placebo; and in the behavioral
and EEG effects of procyclidine. In these studies he accepted

responsibility for the selection of patients. their evaluation
and treatment under "double blind“ conditions. In each. his
activities were carried out with an understanding of the
overall program.
