Huii, Engiand Dear Dr. Biane: For the past two years we have studied the conditioning theory of narcotic addiction as expressed by Wikier. We started with cyciazocine and carried out some studies with naioxone. Cyciazocine has the disadvantages of a narrow therapeutic index and naioxone appears to have a very short duration of action. Despite these iimitations, both treatments appear to foiiow the deconditioning modei and have shown sufficient promise to excite us to continue. We are interested, however, in any other narcotic antagonists which can be of longer duration of action and with fewer side effects. I am enciosing copies of our reports which wiii bring you up—to-date in our present program. . In the event that SOSO-M, or other active antagonists goes to human triai, we wouid be anxious to test it.
