Most of the interest has been in the use of cyclazocine. This agent is available in the United States for research and more than patients have been treated. Recently. naloxone was studied and the supply has been severely limited so that we have been able to study its effects in seven patients only. The results were sufficiently exciting. however, to cause us to ask that additional supplies be provided by the manufacturer and these are now in production and should be available for testing before the end 150 of the year. the heat of To my knowledge. neither compound is available for clinical or research purposes outside the United States. so that your report must restrict itself to a statement of the research merit only. At the present time. the only widely used compound in the treatment of opiate dependence generally available is methadone.
