Dear

Bill,'

Enclosed is a summary of a demonstration experiment with
fenfluramine (your study 2063) undertaken with second year
medical students at the New York hedical College on January 9
and 10, 1968.

-

The students participating on January 9. volunteered for the
experiment and the data is enclosed. On January lo the students
requested that the experiment not be undertaken since they were
scheduled for examinations beginning January ll. and they had
heard from the first group that some subjects had difficulty
in sleeping. For this reason only 1/4 the number of subjects
actually took the drug.
'

This was my first.experience in a student demonstration
project. For these young men_end women the anxiety of a novel
experiment, in a group setting with much interaction seemed to
so alter their responses that neither amobarbithl nor
dextroamphetamine gave a well defined response. The only
change which may be related to drug effect was the decrease in

digit

symbol score

for amobarbital.

The remaining supplies of fenfluramine are being sent. as
requested to Mr. Collins. The form for Disposition of Investigational

Drugs

is enclosed.

I want to thank you for your cooneration in
which was most enlightening. My best regards.

this study

Sincerely yours,
Pink, ”.9.
