Kahn Department of Psychiatry University of Chicago Illinois Chicago, Dear Bob, After a hiatus of eight years, I would like to undertake another study of convulsive therapy. The recent modification of multiple monitored ECT and unilateral ECT have stimulated my interest. while we have only a few cases in treatment at Metropolitan Hospital, I have been fortunate in obtaining the support of Dr. Lothar Kalinowsky and the staff at Gratie Square Hospital and would like to undertake this study at that institution. writing to you today to obtain your permission to include you among list of consultants whose advice I may wish to call upon as we become involved with the details of this project. As you may guess I am applying for support from NIMH and would like to make this a definitive study involving many of the suggestions which were made during our active days at Hillside. There is much talk of building a research building and I was surprised to hear that our old plan had been puled out of the files and an application resubmitted to NIH for support at the same level as we had tried eight years ago.
