A symposium on this subject was held on the occasion of the World Congress of Psychiatry in 1961. This reviewed the methods and experiences then available and indicated that there were interesting relationships between EEG and drug symposimn on effects but that the methods were relatively poor. Since then, two major symposia rave been held . and published (Glaser - Yale UniVersity, 1963; Wilson Duke University, 1965). Also, there have been two major discussions of the problem of dissociation of EEG and behavior with antioholinergic drugs, at the, Society of Biological Psychiatry (1965) andthe CINP (1966). —-. ‘ Recent studies of more refimd objective methods of quantification has enhanced these studies mmssurably. The enthusiastic interest in the relation of the EEG phases of sleep to behavior and to drug effects have also stimulated my new studies. The spectrum is broad, . of relationships of enoanpessing the EEG, drugs and behavior specificity of'drug effects, the relation to diagnosis and the relation to treatment response. I would like to ask the Program Committee of the 1968 CINP’ to consider an all~day symposiwn on the subject "EEG and Human Psychoplnrmacology. " I would be pleased to- organize and chair such a smposimn.
