Deparment of Psychiatry of the New York Medical College has been actively involved in developing Canmmity Mental Health Center in New York City under thea ' direction of the Freedman. The development of the Community Mental Health Center is one of the principal activities of the Department, and encanpasses such programs as partial hospitalization, brief hosPitalization with visiting nurse aftercare , a narcotic addiction treatment evaluation center, walk-in clinics as well as the more conventional treatment units. A new lS-story facility is under construction and is scheduled for completion in July 1959. The Department has 44 resident physicians in training and has a variety of specialized basic research this year divisions which canplement the clinical programs.
