The LSD treatment and study program was undertaken in St. Louis in 1962 and was available to long term mentally ill only. There seemed no justification for therapeutic trials with LSD in others, since other treament methods have generally been efficacious. Since moving to New York in June, I have not re-instituted an treatment program and so cannot offer one to your patient. We are however, interested in subjects who have not responded , LSD to other treatments (as I assume is true for this patient) and are actively engaged in testing a variety of novel therapeutic agents , especially in patients with a history of non-responsive depression. If your patient may be interested in participating in such a treatment program, I would be pleased to review a sumnary of her case history and to advise you as to the suitability of our methods.
