Dear Philip:

Earlier this week I mt with Dr. Cole and Dr. Brill informallly
during sessions of a special mittee. I submitted a list of the
invitees and a copy of the invitation. The Program Committee is
meeting on November 29, md“ they mooumged us to have the program
mleted by that date. I indicated that this was not possible but
that we would aubudtthe final program as soon as possible.
They assured me that we were on the list of symposia requesting
simultaneous thumletim and were particularly interested thatwe
had invited a ember of Soviet guests. Dr. Brill suggested that
did indeed come , special pmvisims would have to be made
if they
for Russim translation if it beam neoessary, insofar as Russian
was not an official language of the meeting.
,

With regard

to publicatim, m. Brill indicated that that

would

be the decision of another omittee, a publications casedttee', which
is yet to be appointed. He suggested, however, that in View of the
large masher of reports that me being planned for this meeting,
that would be unlikely that publication would be aocotmlished
through the GIMP directly. He suggested that you cmtact the
publishers and make the preliminaxy arrangements subject to approval

it

of the participmts aid the GIMP in March. In that way, we would
be prepared to make a definitive statemnt regarding publication
at the end of the meeting.

With regard to transportation eXpenses , Dr. Cole indicated
that the .oomaittea was placing the responsibility
in the hands of
the Emopean Committee of CINP. He suggested that we contact
Dr. Deniker directly. I have already received two replies requesting
tmspootatim grants from fiance and Amtria. Perhaps it would be
helpful to have you write to Dr. Deniker or discuss With More
of the mittee a mthod of allocating the available funds so
that we may beable to make some recommndaticms a few weeks hence!
As soon as I have few more replies, I will send them on to you.
