In the research prograna oi the Inatitnte. specially trained
personnel in the fields of neurophysiology. pharmacology. biocheniatry. computer sciences and experimental and clinical
psychology have been appointed. Since the majority of these
studies revolve about patients within the Institute setting,
clinical psychiatrieta are a cornntatone of these programs.
Indeed. competently trained clinical psychiatrists with epe~
cialined abilities in daacriptiva”psychietry provide much of
the basic information needed by the laboratory scientists.
For thia reason. all appointees to the clinical programs of
the lnatitnte nuat to board qualified psychiatrists. While
theta are many such in the United States, they, for the coat
part. are in clinical practice in the community and very few
are available for clinical research. For this reason. we have
sought end appointed extraordinarily qualified peychiatriete
from outside the United States to the Institute. At the
present time. 31: each qualified European and Anatralian
paychiatriats from outside the United States provide the
basic data of our clinical prograna.
One

of these paychiettiats. Dr. Karry neubaner, is leaving

early in October following hia exporiance here. It in as a
taplacenant for him that we cook the early admiasion of
Dr. Chaim Mair Rosenbctg. we have been unable to find a rm—
plncannnt from candidates within the United States. and this
important program will not be able to continue unless we can
find an immediate replacement.

It in our opinion that the oarly admission of Dr. Enacnberg
will enbatentially benefit the research and treatment programs
of the Misconri Institute of Psychiatry, and directly accrue
to the benefit of the patienta of this institution. It in our
hope that Dr.tnoaenbatg'e participation in our research pro~
grane will assist on in making conttibutiona to the nndaratand~

ing of the problems at the mentally 111. Since our programs
are anpported by national as woll as local resources. all the
information obtained in our programs ia presented as rapidly as
poaaible to the acientiiic community, thereby benefitting the
general cultural and medical welfare of the American public.

is a qualified physician. and has con.
plated_hie training leading to on advanced certificate as a
qualified paycbiatriat. He has received the Diploma in Paychelogical Medicine awarded by the Conjoint Examining Board in
England. In addition. he holds e certificate from the Education~
al Council for toroign Medical Graduates. which is a confirmation
of his general medical qualifications.
