Since this is primarily a clinical paper. it seems more appropriate to delete the allusion to the heuristic model than it is to expand the description. I think it were best to permit you to expand on this in another report. While in England, I visited Dr. Martin Roth and hsd an interesting opportunity to allude to our experiences with inipranine end veri~ ous depressive cases. He has a young psychologist working with him by the name of Clair Nelson Guerney, who has done a number of factor analytic studies of the date collected in a large number of depressive cases. She noted two factors that seemed to separate her suh~ groups. The groups included a neurotic-depressive group. a phobic~ depressive group, a psychotic—depressive group and a manic-depres— sive, depressed. She observed that one factor separated the psychotic—depressed end manic-depressed, depressed from the other two groups. But she was concerned about a very strong factor that separated the phobic~depressed and psychotic—depressed from the neurotic-depression and manic-depressed, depressed. I suggested that perhaps this factor was separating a group highly responsive to iniprsnine from those who were less so, and suggested that she refer to your work and your report on the anxiety syndromes.
